The Steading by Torbreck is made from a classic Rhône GSM blend of Grenache (64%), Shiraz (Syrah) (18%) and Mataro (Mourvedre) (18%) grape varietals in Australia's Barossa Valley. The 2010 vintage is garnet in colour showing flashes of purple with a body that is full yet very supple. This wine is fermented in a mix of open wooden and concrete vats for a week before being basket-pressed. After a 24 month period of maturation in underground vats The Steading is blended and bottled without either fining or filtration.

Reviewing it in February, 2014 Robert Parker describes a wine with:

Leading Australian wine judge and critic James Halliday was also suitably impressed finding:
"..greater weight and complexity than the colour would suggest, even to the extent of touches of spice and chocolate; the overall balance between fruit, oak and tannins is good."

The Steading is named after the Scottish highland name for a group of barns, stables and outbuildings. Winemaker David Powell is on record as stating that this is his favourite Torbreck wine because of the very old, gnarled ‘bush vines’ that produce its core fruit which is sourced from vineyards in Marananga, Greenock, Moppa, Seppeltsfield, Gomersal & Ebenezer sub-regions.
