Although drinking very well indeed at the moment this wine will continue to develop and, if stored carefully, will drink until at least 2026.
In years such as this when Taylor Fladgate fails to declare a vintage the port wine from this estate is released under the name Quinta de Vargellas, one of the most highly prized of all port vineyards. Compared by many to the vineyard of Ch. Latour in Bordeaux for its sheer depth and quality Quinta de Vargellas, purchased between 1893 and 1896, is one of the highest vineyards in the Douro which does an excellent job of moderating the high heat in the summer.
