This vintage of first growth Ch. Latour, Pauillac, was regarded as one of, if not the, best wines of a year that received mixed reviews at the time. Since its release it has continued to divide tasters although one set of notes dated February, 2014, found a wine that was "..still a bright ruby colour with garnet tints...with hints of chocolate, cinnamon, licorice, cigar box. Fruit aromas are darker and showing blackberry and black currant notes. The flavour is astonishing: the wine shows an incredible strength for such an old bottle, acid is pronounced and tannins still biting." Other opinions have differed it is fair to say although provenance is, as ever, of the utmost importance.

Château Latour is named after the tower that once stood there built during the One Hundrer Years War. That tower no longer exists but a new tower now stands there built in the early 1600s which was originally intended to be a pigeon roost. Latour was famously named one of the four (now five) first growth Bordeaux in the 1855 classifications.

Due to the age of this wine we cannot guarantee the drinking condition that it is in. We suggest you visit www.cellartracker.com to find recent reviews. The level of wine is at the top of the shoulder and the capsule and label are in good condition.
