The 2002 vintage of Château La Dominique is a very impressive wine which has aged particularly well. Writing six years ago the esteemed wine critic Robert Parker stated that:
The 1982 La Dominique has been fully mature for at least 15 years, but if stored in a cold cellar, it holds on to its beautiful fruit. There is a slight hint of prunes, along with licorice, herbs, jammy black cherry and cassis fruit as well as that subtle seaweed smell that I associate with nori, the wrapper used in sushi restaurants. Still full-bodied, complex, and tasty, it is ready for prime time consumption.
Following a 2011 tasting The Wine Cellar Insider opined:
A fragrant nose of licorice, flowers, stone, plums and orange rind works well with the soft, round, elegant textures. Fully mature, the wine ends with a refined, spicy, red fruit note.
The Cardinal's Cellar is offering this just one magnum of this special vintage for sale and the larger bottle size means that the contents have undergone a slightly slower and longer maturation process.
