Although not quite up to the excellent standard of the 2000 vintage of Château Gruaud Larose this is a very fine example of this vineyard. It displays the commonly appreciated fact that the character of wine from Saint Julien lies between the force of Pauillac and the finesse of Margaux.
Château Gruaud Larose was one of the first in their field to use organic methods for the protection and defence of their vines They banned insecticides, pesticides and herbicides in the vineyard during the late nineties.
