The 2010 vintage of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is nothing less than a triumph. This wine has attracted uniformly rave reviews since its release with The Wine Cellar Insider claiming:
This is super. It has everything needed to compete with the big boys, except the price.
They went on to laud its mulitiple layers of ripe, sweet, fresh, pure fruits, its great texture, refined tannins and its long finish. Further claiming that when this wine reaches maturity that it is going to be a rockstar of a wine. If you're looking for a high quality, classified Bordeaux from the 2010 vintage, and you want the best value for money, this is the wine to buy.
Similarly, Robert Parker himself acclaimed it in the following terms in 2013
its classic creme de cassis and floral notes are well-displayed. The wine possesses supple tannin, a full body, voluptuous character and a layered, impressively textured mouth-feel. This is a brilliant effort from Grand Puy Lacoste that can be drunk in 4-5 years or cellared for three decades or more.
This vintage is made from 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Merlot grapes and is a deep-coloured wine with some toasty oak, cassis, coffee, jam-like dark berries, tobacco and olive tapenade aromas that pair well with the full-bodied, bite of concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon, spice and cassis. This is certainly a big wine although very approachable in youth, and it is certain to have a glorious, long, drinking window.
