This Château Berliquet 2005 is a very well made, attractively priced medium to full-bodied red wine from a very good year in St. Emilion. The nose of red berries, cherries, cassis and herbs is complemented by the new oak and roasted coffee aromas which are nicely integrated. It is a soft, open wine with elegance rather than power that is drinking very well now and for the next five or six years at least.

Adjacent to Chateau Magdelaine and Chateau Canon. Owned by Vincent de Lesquen, the yineyard and chai was totally improved 25 years ago and more recently winemaking has been given to Patrick Valette leading to a marked improvement in quality and ranks in the Premier Cru on quality.

Jancis Robinson – Sumptuous and polished. Not too heavy or dry.
James Suckling – Well integrated tannins, fresh fruit, medium finish and well balanced.
Robert Parker – Impeccably well made, for early consumption tasting of black cherries, cassis and herbs.
