Paul Jaboulet Aîné, Domaine de Saint Pierre, Cornas, 2005

A deep ruby wine, from a top Northern Rhône vintage. It has a nose of sweet red berries, powdered chalk and mineral meaty tones. It has a healthy richness and is moderately high in tannins with good levels of acidity. The 2005 is a deeper ruby to other years as the grapes were very small, firm, and their skin very thick.

This estate is located on the top of the plateau, facing due south, near the little chapel of Saint Pierre. The Jaboulet family have shared their passion for wine in the Rhône Valley for nearly two centuries although Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné, was bought by the Frey family, owners of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux, in 2006.
