Château La Tour Blanche, Sauternes, 2005

A golden yellow, medium-bodied Sauternes from a top vintage. It has a lovely sweet nose of honey, pineapple, butterscotch with some floral undertones and a little toastiness. On the palate, it is rich, extravagant and well-balanced with a good acidity and beautifully smooth and peachy.

This vineyard was bequeathed to the French State by its previous owner on the condition that a wine school be created on the site. In 1909 the Ministry of Agriculture accepted the donation and commissioned the construction of La Tour Blanche School of Viticulture and Oenology which was completed in 1911. Despite its unusual status, this wine-producing estate is entirely managed by wine trade professionals.
