Baron Rothschild Mouton Cadet, Bordeaux, 2009

Intense ruby red colour with purple highlights. This wine has a rich, open nose with attractive aromas of red berried fruits and strawberry jam and some greenness. It displays some balance, with an elegant tannic structure and a pleasant range of crisp, fruity flavours enhanced by a touch of liquorice.

This is a contentious wine seen by some as a good introduction to Bordeaux reds and seen by others as Bordeaux's answer to new world industrial wine. It comes from the celebrated Rothschild Family and is offered by The Cardinal's Cellar as an accurately priced everyday drinking wine.
